The extremely rare 35.56-carat blue diamond sold for $ 24.3 million (€17,913,000) which was a record price for diamonds or jewels ever sold in the world. Knows as the Der Blaue Wittelsbacher since 1722, this is one of the few diamonds which may be considered really rare and extremely beautiful, Christie’s officials say. The start price for the gem was $13 - 17 million (€9.5 - €12.5 million) but, at the end, the amount paid went beyond expectations.
